Our Story
Cyberspline Games was born in Vancouver from a simple idea: build the kind of game we wanted to play ourselves.
Our core team met at Vancouver Film School in 2019. We were lifelong gamers, creators, and VR believers, and we spent the first year working without pay, driven purely by passion. That belief paid off. With support from Canada Media Fund, IRAP, IBM Startup Program, University of British Columbia, and Vancouver Film School, BoomBox came to life. Musicians like FiXT, Camellia, and many others trusted us with their sound, and together we launched a VR rhythm game built around three pillars: fitness, community, and music.
From day one, BoomBox was never just a product. It was a collaboration.
Players didn’t just play the game, they shaped it. Mappers, modders, streamers, and musicians turned BoomBox into something bigger than we ever imagined.
Over time, BoomBox fell into the hungry hands of a corporation that didn’t share our values. The game we built with heart was pushed, constrained, and nearly lost. Development slowed, updates became limited, and the future of BoomBox felt uncertain. What happened next is what truly defines BoomBox.
The community stayed.
Players reached out, shared feedback, offered help, and made it clear that BoomBox still mattered. That support became the foundation for BoomBox Remastered. Remastered is not a sequel and not a reboot for profit. It’s a second chance built together with the people who never let the game disappear.
We rebuilt BoomBox with intention. We brought in experienced Beat Saber modders (because they are top notch!) and community creators because we believe rhythm games thrive when modding culture is respected and development stays close to the players. Systems were rethought, environments were reworked, and gameplay was refined to feel better, move better, and sound better.
Our goal remains the same: create a home where players and indie musicians grow together. BoomBox actively partners with independent artists, giving their music visibility through gameplay, streaming, and community-made maps. Music isn’t background noise here, it’s the heart of the experience.
There is no corporation behind BoomBox Remastered. No boardroom decisions. It’s a woman-led studio, built by a gamer, a streamer, and a developer who still plays alongside the community and listens every day.BoomBox Remastered exists because players believed in it.
It’s built with trust, rhythm, and persistence.
And this time, we’re building it together from the ground up.
